After some time running the MythTV setup, I'm starting to get some ideas about storage solutions/power use etc. At a time there was a super offer from www.dustin.dk about this particular NAS storage solution. So I thought "What the F*ck" and bought one.

But that was the start to some problems, since I don't have a windowsPC in my house, but started out and tried many things to get it up and running, and in the end it was like this:
I've ended up with this solution for the Software.
Download the latest software from their webpage: http://www.readynas.com and and download the the latest software for linux here, make it executable and run the script with this command.
|
$ sudo chmod +x RAIDar_Linux_4_1_5.sh |
Then you'll see the different questions about license etc. in the console - carse I couldn't get it to work with the commands that they where talking about. So afterwards you'll get a menu (GNOME) under Programs/Other to run the Software RAIDar for controlling the different harddrives.
When starting the program you'll see a windows like this when scannning for any NAS-servers on the network. Allthough it's a must that the machine are placed on the samme subnet.

Then when the scanning is done, you'll see a list of the different NAS-servers, depending on how many you got.

You'll be able to find more documentation about the ReadyNAS here.
If you want to know about Compatibility List - you can see a list of hardware here.
